Explore the Jim Tovey Conservation AreaJoin us for a walk along the newest trails at the Jim Tovey Conservation Area, located just a short distance from Toronto. Easily accessible by TTC, GO Transit, or on foot, this is a great opportunity to experience nature close to the city. We will meet promptly at Long Branch GO Station at 9:15 AM and walk through Marie Curtis Park to the Jim Tovey Conservation Area, finishing at the Small Arms Building, where there is a weekly Farmer's Market. Please note the market is located mostly inside, so if it rains, we will be well covered, but it seems that it will be a very nice day! There is also an artisans' market happening at the same time in the same space. There will be lots to explore. Washrooms will be available mid-hike at the Mink Trail (port-a-potty) and at the end of the hike (indoor facilities) at the Small Arms Building. For those wishing to return to Long Branch GO Station after the market, it is a short 15-minute walk east along Lakeshore Road East from the Small Arms Building. If you have purchased items at the market, you can also choose to catch a MiWay bus (Mississauga Transit) using your PRESTO CARD to Long Branch Loop (Long Branch GO Station), which will provide you with a 5-minute free ride when you transfer to the GO train. The hike will cover 8 km and last approximately 2 hours, excluding time spent at the market. The area officially opened on May 29, 2026.
